The Truth Behind Mining

EV Batteries rely on mining for rare earth metals. The main one being Cobalt which according to latest 'World Mining Data' figures the Democratic Republic of Congo was responsible for 74.5% of the worlds production. This means there is a high chance that it is being used in UK EV batteries. The problem is that according to the International Labour Organisation (ILOSTAT) in 2024 the average wage in The Democratic Republic of Congo was $78.6 per month!.......Sounds more like exploitation rather than fair environmental policy.

Trying to put a green spin on EV batteries...look beyond the headlines

Its all very well pushing the green agenda, but as always you need to look behind the headlines to find out the truth. If everyone knew the truth don't you think that other technologies would also be on the table? How about Hydrogen or sustainable fuels, why doesn't the UK Government legislate to force the car manufacturers to use these instead of blindly following the rare earth route which is no more that exploitation of the environment that it mined from and the people who mine it?
